A UK medical cannabis lounge is a professionally managed, members-only space where individuals who hold a valid UK medical cannabis prescription can use their prescribed medication in a safe, discreet and comfortable environment.
Medical cannabis has been legally prescribable in the United Kingdom since November 2018, when cannabis-based medicinal products were rescheduled to Schedule 2 of the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2001. Since then, patient numbers have grown steadily — with between 80,000 and 100,000 UK patients now accessing cannabis-based medicinal products through licensed private prescribers.
Despite this growth, most patients have nowhere to use their medication outside their own homes. Public spaces are uncontrolled, workplaces are inappropriate, and rented accommodation often prohibits any form of vaping. The result is that a legal, prescribed medical treatment is used in conditions that are anything but optimal — alone, discreetly, often with unnecessary stigma.

Is It Legal to Use a Medical Cannabis Lounge in the UK?
Yes — within a clearly defined framework. Medical cannabis was rescheduled from Schedule 1 to Schedule 2 of the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2001 in November 2018. This means that cannabis-based medicinal products can be legally prescribed by a GMC-registered specialist doctor and legally possessed and used by the patient to whom they are prescribed.

Who Can Use a UKMC Lounge?

You must hold a current, valid UK medical cannabis prescription issued by a GMC-registered specialist doctor. NHS cannabis prescriptions are rare — the vast majority of patients access cannabis-based medicinal products through licensed private clinics including Mamedica, Releaf, Alternaleaf, Curaleaf and others.
Age 18 or Over
UKMC Lounges membership is strictly restricted to adults aged 18 or over. Valid photo ID confirming date of birth is required at the verification stage.
Your Own Medication Only
Members may only use medication that is their own, prescribed to them, in its original pharmacy packaging. No sharing, selling or transferring of medication is permitted under any circumstances. Any breach results in immediate and permanent membership revocation.
What to Expect at a UKMC Lounge
UKMC Lounge is designed to the standard of a modern private members club — not a cannabis social club and not a clinical environment. The aesthetic is warm, considered and professional. Walnut panelling, velvet seating, private booths, quiet working areas and comfortable conversation spaces sit alongside premium alcohol-free refreshments including artisan hot chocolates, single-origin coffees, cold-pressed juices and house-made milkshakes.
Every lounge is professionally maintained, hygienically managed and staffed by a discreet, trained team. Members can work, relax, socialise or simply medicate in comfort — without the isolation of home or the discomfort of an uncontrolled environment.
